Description:

The Rolls Royce belonged to Bert Stanworth who owned and ran The Bell and was used for his funeral business which was at the rear of the pub. Bert also ran a bicycle shop in the town which is now Simon Bishops the opticians. The Rolls Royce was dated 1934 and had previously been owned by Leslie Hore-Belisha (1893–1957), the Minister of Transport who, in 1934, added ‘beacons’ to pedestrian crossings. The car was bought from a garage in Tern Hill called London Motors. This was his ‘little Rolls’, the main car was a larger vehicle. He also had four Austins and a hearse. .Courtesy of Ken Evans
