John and Susannah Elkes. (1881-1960)(1881-1964) Elkes bakers & confectioners 66 High Street. Their children were Eileen and Raymond. Raymond (1913-2004) took history at university and became an important member of Newport History Society. He was able to record the people, places and events of Newport to the Novaportans of the 21st century. Shown outside 'Woodville' Stafford Road.
