Map of part of Audley Avenue and Avenue Road in 1877. Shows the proposed new road, Avenue Road South, Marsh Cottage and the gas works. At the time the Town and Marsh Trustees were selling land as building plots. The map also notes that Audley Road was once Cemetery Road and that Avenue Road was once called Marsh Road. The 'sixteenth piece' refers to the fact that when the marsh was enclosed in 1764 sixteen pieces of land were created and rented out as grazing.
