Description:

Site of locks and basin on canal south of Pitchcroft. Part of the Duke of Sutherland's canal system built to transport coal and limestone to and from the local mines. Filled and levelled in 1969. A 'lost branch' joined from the left beyond the basin which appears to head towards 'Colliers Side' at Lilleshall Quarries. (Courtesy of Shropshire Mining Club.)
