Canal outing on Newport Canal. Mrs Owen, at the tiller, used to give joy rides to youngsters who lived at Broomfield Place. Every year it went up the canal collecting hay from the grass verges. In the background is the Willows Plantation where Mr Dawson (newsagent in Middle Row) used to make delivery baskets for local tradesmen. In the boat are Doris, Gladys, Nellie and Joan Tomkinson.
