1 High Street, Interior of Guildhall. The Tudor wall painting was found behind the wall panelling take off at the time of the restoration project in the early 1990s. The wall painting is on a piece of timber added when the 1st floor was inserted. Because the painting represents the two empbems of Henry Vlll (rose) and Catherine of Aragon (pomegranite), we can date this painting to the early years of Henry’s marriage to Catherine ; perhaps 1509– 1530 also the insertion of the 1st floor
